Variety and autonomy | Dynamic and successful team | Flexible working available

This is a great Brisbane CBD based opportunity for a Senior Accountant to work in a small, highly entrepreneurial and acquisitive company. Our client operates a multi-pit, open-cut coal mine in Mongolia. They are seeking an accomplished Senior Accountant to support the team predominately in relation to their Mongolian operation and with the opportunity to contribute to the continued growth of their other entities and exploration projects.  This is an extremely interesting position that is characterised by plenty of variety and the chance to be part of an energised, successful and experienced global team.

This role will suit an experienced CA qualified accountant (minimum 5 years) who is a self-starter and capable of working autonomously.  It will appeal to detail-minded individuals who focus on delivering outcomes in a lean and productive environment and who operate in a cooperative, collegial style. Personal attributes will include the capability to balance parallel tasks and conflicting issues in a complex environment, to undertake robust analysis and exercise sound judgement and initiative.

Reporting to the supportive and talented CFO, the successful candidate will enjoy a broad role encompassing financial and management accounting with the chance to collaborate with and learn from colleagues in Singapore and Mongolia.  Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Efficient and accurate month-end reporting;
  • Continuous improvement in commercial management, business processes and cost structures;
  • Assistance with preparation of tax returns;
  • Statutory reporting including consolidation;
  • Liaising as a key contact for auditors;
  • Supporting the CFO to provide commercial and financial advice to key stakeholders emphasising risks and opportunities;
  • Supporting the CFO to develop and implement systems for corporate governance and compliance with statutory and legal obligations;
  • Contributing to process improvement initiatives;
  • Balance sheet reconciliation.

This position represents an attractive opportunity to play an integral role in an ambitious organisation that is deeply committed to the development of its team and within a culture that is supportive and collaborative.
